Emerging collectivity in neutron-hole transitions near doubly magic ²⁰⁸Pb

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ²⁰⁹Bi(⁶Li, 2nα), (⁶Li, 4n), E=48 MeV; ²⁰⁴Pb(¹³C, 4n), E=80 MeV; measured reaction products, Eγ, Iγ. ²⁰⁹Po, ²¹¹Rn, ²¹³Ra; deduced γ-ray energies and intensities, T_1/2, B(E2), emerging collectivity beyond the shell-model valence space. Comparison with calculations. Direct fast-timing methods.
