Neutral-current neutrino cross section and expected supernova signals for ⁴⁰Ar from a three-fold increase in the magnetic dipole strength

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁴⁰Ar(γ, γ'), E=9.4-10.2 MeV; measured reaction products, Eγ, Iγ; calculated the neutral-current neutrino σ using shell model; deduced γ-ray energies, J, π, resonance parameters, B(M1), B(E1). The Nuclear Resonance Fluorescence (NRF) technique, the High-Intensity Gamma-Ray Source (HIγS) of the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL).
