Necessity of self-consistent calculations for the electromagnetic field in probing the nuclear symmetry energy using pion observables in heavy-ion collisions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 96Ru(96Ru, X), 96Zr(96Zr, X), E=400 MeV/nucleon; calculated contours of the electric fields and densities, multiplicities of π- and π+, relative kinetic energy distributions of nucleons, double π-+ ratio using two approaches: self-consistent calculation in the framework of isospin- and momentum-dependent IBUU transport model, and by Lienard-Wiechert formula for heavy-ion collisions.
