Necessity of self-consistent calculations for the electromagnetic field in probing the nuclear symmetry energy using pion observables in heavy-ion collisions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁹⁶Ru(⁹⁶Ru, X), ⁹⁶Zr(⁹⁶Zr, X), E=400 MeV/nucleon; calculated contours of the electric fields and densities, multiplicities of π^- and π⁺, relative kinetic energy distributions of nucleons, double π^-/π⁺ ratio using two approaches: self-consistent calculation in the framework of isospin- and momentum-dependent IBUU transport model, and by Lienard-Wiechert formula for heavy-ion collisions.
