Measurement of differential cross sections for the deuteron-proton breakup reaction at 160 MeV

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(d, 2p), E=80 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products and charged particles using Big Instrument for Nuclear-polarization Analysis (BINA) at KVI-Groningen; deduced interpolated σ for deuteron-proton elastic scattering, luminosity integrated over time, differential cross sections for deuteron breakup process for 243 geometrical configurations. Comparison with theoretical calculations modeling nuclear interactions with and without the three-nucleon force (3NF) and the Coulomb interaction.

Investigation of the cross section for dd elastic scattering and dd → n 3He reactions at 160 MeV

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 2H(d, d), (d, 3He), E=160 MeV; measured scattered deuterons and 3He ions, dd-coin, E-ΔE distributions, differential cross sections using the BINA detector Ball and a forward Wall composed of a three-plane multi-wire proportional chamber (MWPC) for charged particle detection at the superconducting cyclotron AGOR at KVI in Groningen; deduced Missing mass spectrum, energy distribution of the elastically scattered deuterons. Comparison with previous experimental data, and with theoretical calculations based on singles scattering approximation (SSA) for the three-cluster breakup and for elastic scattering.

Experimental Study of Three-nucleon Dynamics in Proton-Deuteron Breakup Reaction

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(d, 2p)1n, E=100 MeV;2H(p, 2p)1n, E=108, 135, 160 MeV; measured charged particles produced in the final state of d-d and d-p scattering, time and x-coordinate (position information from MWPC) of products using almost 4π detection system BINA with Forward Wall composed of MWPC, 12 vertical thin scintillators (ΔE)and 10 horizontal thick scintillators (E); deduced three-body breakup kinematics for some selected angular configurations, σ(E, θ); calculated σ(E, θ) using CD-Bonn (CDB) potential and CDB including 3-nucleon forces (CDB+TM99 and CDB+Δ); deduced small difference of widths between calculations and data, to be verified in further analysis. Preliminary.

Towards an Explanation of the Space Star Anomaly

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 2H(p, x), E=108, 135 MeV;1H(d, x), E=160 MeV; calculated possible explanation of peak in proton-deuteron breakup at energies 7.5-13 MeV/nucleon known as Space Star Anomaly (SSA) using Effective Field Theory (EFT), Chiral EFT (ChEFT), for Forward, Backward and Plane Stars (FPS and BPS), and SSA 90 degrees with CD-Bonn and Coulomb potential (CDB+C), with Δ excitation (CDB+Δ), with both Δ and Coulomb (CDB+Δ+C); the data to be measured at BINA@CCB to look for deviations from theoretical predictions including Coulomb force and 3NF effects. Analysis only preliminary, dσ to be obtained soon.
