γ-ray emission in proton-induced nuclear reactions on natC and Mylar targets over the incident energy range, Ep = 30 - 200 MeV. Astrophysical implications

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C, 16O, 24Mg, 28Si, 56Fe(p, X), E=30-200 MeV; measured reaction products; deduced γ-ray production σ. The K = 200 separated sector cyclotron of iThemba LABS using a high-energy resolution, high-efficiency detection array composed of 8 Compton-suppressed clover detectors comprising 32 HP-Ge crystals for recording the γ-ray energy spectra.

Measurement and analysis of nuclear γ-ray production cross sections in proton interactions with Mg, Si, and Fe nuclei abundant in astrophysical sites over the incident energy range E=30-66 MeV

Comparison to theoretical predictions using the code TALYS, with modified optical model potential (OMP) parameters deformation parameters, and level density parameters. 24Mg(p, p'), E=49.5 MeV; 28Si(p, p'), E=65 MeV; 56Fe(p, p'), E=30, 65 MeV; analyzed σ(θ) data in literature using OPTMAN code; deduced optical potential model parameters, deformation parameters β2, β4 and γ. Comparison with γ-ray cross section data in literature. Discussed astrophysical implications of results of present experiment through TALYS calculation of γ-ray line emission spectra over the photon energy range of 0.1-10 MeV, expected to be generated in interactions of the low-energy cosmic rays (LECRs) in the inner Galaxy.

New determination of proton spectroscopic factors and reduced widths for 8Be states in the 16.5-18.0 MeV excitation energy region via the study of the 7Li(3He, d)8Be transfer reaction at Elab=20 MeV: Implication for the 7Li(p, α)4He hydrogen burning reaction

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 7Li(3He, d)8Be, E=20 MeV; measured E(d), I(d), σ, σ(θ) using split-pole magnetic spectrometer and a ΔE-E position-sensitive drift chamber at the Orsay 14.8-MV tandem accelerator facility. Nonlocal, finite-range (FR)-distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA) analysis of cross section data. 8Be; deduced levels, J, π, isospin, absolute and partial spectroscopic factors. Comparison with previous experimental results, and with shell-model calculations. Relevance to 7Li(p, α)4He hydrogen burning in astrophysical applications.
