Low-lying states in 219Ra and 215Rn: Sampling microsecond α-decaying nuclei

RADIOACTIVITY 219Ra(α)[from 243Am(48Ca, X), E=242.1, 245.0 MeV]; measured Eα, Iα, Eγ, Iγ, αγ-coin, α(x ray)-coin, α-α correlations using TASISpec at the TASCA, GSI facility. Pileup analysis and GEANT4 simulation of 219Ra to 215Rn decay. 219,219m,220,221Ra, 215,216,217Rn, 212,213Po, 219Fr, 215At(α); measured half-lives, Qα. 219Ra, 215Rn; deduced levels, J, π, isomer in 219Ra Comparison with shell model calculations and theoretical calculations of deformation, rotational states and α-decay rates, and with evaluated data in the ENSDF database.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 243Am(48Ca, x), E=242.1, 245.0 MeV; measured reaction products, fission products, Eα, Iα(t), αα-coin, (recoil)α-coin, En, In using He-gas filled TASCA, TASISpec based on DSSSDs, other DSSSDs; deduced correlation times, α energy spectra, 23 α-decay chains of five α's and α+3n, fragments T1/2. Discussed existence of long decay chains; compared with published results.

RADIOACTIVITY 289,288Mc, 284Nh, 280Rg, 276Mt, 272Bh(α), 268Db(SF); measured decay products, Eα, Iα; deduced T1/2. Comparison with available data.
