Affirmation of transfer-breakup as a source for α particle emission in 12, 13C + 232Th fission reactions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 232Th(12C, F), (13C, F), E=74.5 MeV; measured reaction products and fission fragments, Eα, Iα, α(θ), (fragment)α-coin, α-particle multiplicity spectra by moving source disentangling analysis (MSDA) using position sensitive ionization chambers and hybrid detector telescope for fission fragment and α detection at BARC-TIFR 14-MV Pelletron accelerator facility; deduced compound nucleus excitation energy, Qα and S(n), α-particle multiplicity contributions, complementary fission fragment, near-scission emission, excess α-particle emission from α-transfer induced fission by α-particle transfer following breakup of 8Be into two α particles.
