Evolution of E2 strength in the rare-earth isotopes 174, 176, 178, 180Hf

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 180Hf(16O, 16O), E=55 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, half-lives of first 2+, 4+ and 6+ states by fast-timing γγ-coin using the ROSPHERE detector array for γ detection at the Bucharest FN Tandem accelerator. 180Hf; deduced levels, B(E2) values and B(E2) ratios. Comparison with literature values.

RADIOACTIVITY 174,176,178Ta(EC), (β+)[from 171Yb(6Li, 3n), 172,173Yb(7Li, 3n), E=30 MeV]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, half-lives of first 2+, 4+, 6+ states, and first 2- and 3- states in 176Hf by fast-timing γγ-coin using the ROSPHERE detector array for γ detection at the Bucharest FN Tandem accelerator. 174,176,178Hf; deduced levels, B(E2) for 174,176,178Hf, and B(E1), B(M2), B(E3) for 176Hf. Systematics of g factors and B(E2) of first excited 2+ states, β4 deformation parameters in 156,158,160,162,164,166,168,170Er, 158,160,162,164,166,168,170,172,174,176Yb, 162,164,166,168,170,172,174,176,178,180Hf, 168,170,172,174,180,182,184,186W, 178,180,182,184Os. Comparison with values obtained in the rigid rotor limit and in the vibrator limit.
