Abstract

Direct mass measurements of the neutron-rich S4044 isotopes were performed at the Low Energy Beam and Ion Trap facility at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. The resulting mass excesses (MEs) are ME(S40)=22837.8(3.9) keV, ME(S41)=19008.6(4.1) keV, ME(S42)=17637.9(2.7) keV, ME(S43)=12195.5(4.9) keV, and ME(S44)=9204.2(5.2) keV, and they represent improvements by factors of 20 to 50 in the precision of previous mass measurements of these isotopes.
