Determination of the asymptotic D- to S-state ratio for 3He from the reaction 1H(d,γ)3He at Ed,lab=80–0 keV

Abstract

The tensor analyzing power T20(θlab=90°) has been measured to high precision for the reaction 1H(d,γ)3He at Ed=800 keV. Direct capture calculations of T20(90°) have been performed using asymptotic forms for the bound state 3He wave function while varying the asymptotic D- to S-state ratio η. A best-fit value for η was extracted and found to be 0.0399±0.00910.0019+0.0012. The model dependence of this result is discussed.
