Abstract

The sub-Coulomb breakup of B8 on a Ni58 target is studied at an incident energy of 26 MeV. These data provide a measure of the E2 component of the breakup cross section as a function of the astrophysical factor S17 for radiative capture of protons on Be7. Implications for the solar neutrino problem are discussed.
