Abstract
We further examine the puzzling disagreement between data and calculations in pion-nucleus elastic scattering at 800 MeV/c by taking account of the dynamical modification of resonances in nuclear medium and by improving the estimate of pion-absorption effects on the basis of a recent absorption measurement. The disagreement remains unexplained, though multinucleon absorption could be a possible explanation.
