Abstract

In this work correlated basis functions theory is applied at the lowest order to analyze the ground state and low energy spectrum of light (p-shell) nuclei. The study is an extension of a previous work devoted to the O16 nucleus and includes state-dependent correlations, whose radial components are determined by solving a set of Euler-Lagrange equations. The matrix elements are computed by using a cluster expansion. Results of calculations performed using v14 nucleon-nucleon potentials are presented and compared with the results obtained for v8 potentials.
