Abstract

The full folding optical potential for the elastic scattering of protons from O16 and Ca40 at 200 MeV is calculated. The fully off-shell free nucleon-nucleon t matrix, at a fixed energy, derived from the Paris potential and harmonic oscillator nuclear single-particle wave functions are used for both systems. The calculated observables show that the optimal factorization approximation provides a good description for both nuclei.
