Abstract

Individual evaporation channels and total fusion cross sections have been deduced for the O16+13C reaction in the center of mass energy range 7.814.6 MeV. This was accomplished through measurements of absolute γ-ray yields from low-lying levels of evaporation residues. Singles γ-ray spectra were obtained with a high resolution Ge(Li) detector at an angle thetaγ=125° with respect to the O16 beam. All excitation functions measured are devoid of any structure, in contrast with the well-known oscillations observed in C16. The results are compared to statistical model calculations and predictions of macroscopic models.
