We have calculated the γ-transition strength from the broad $2^{+}$ resonance in α+α scattering at E=2.9 MeV into the ${}_{}{}^8{}_{}{}^{}$Be ${(0\mathrm{}}^{+}$) ground state in a bremsstrahlung model and find a γ width of ${\Gamma }_{\gamma }$=8.3 meV.
