Abstract

Analyzing powers and cross sections are calculated for the 16O(p,2p) and Ca40(p,2p) reactions at an incident energy of Ep=200 MeV within the framework of the distorted wave impulse approximation, including both the effect of the spin-orbit interaction for the distorted waves and the off-shell effect in the proton-proton scattering. The antisymmetrized t-matrix elements are calculated with the effective nucleon-nucleon interactions by Love and Franey. Our calculations agree well with the experimental data. Although there are substantial contributions from the spin-orbit and the tensor parts in the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction to the cross section, the contribution from the central part is quite weak. Furthermore, we study the medium effects using the density-dependent t-matrix interactions by von Geramb and Nakano. It is found that the medium effects increase the cross sections somewhat, but scarcely change the analyzing powers.
