Abstract

We argue that existing Σ-hypernuclear data do not unambiguously determine the Σ-nuclear spin-orbit splitting $ε_{p}$ , and suggest that the reactions ${}^{7}{(K^{-}}$ , $π^{+}$ $)_{Σ}^{7}$ H, ${}^{13}{(K^{-}}$ , $π^{+}$ $)_{Σ}^{13}$ Be, and ${}^{13}{(K^{-}}$ , $π^{-}$ $)_{Σ}^{13}$ C are well suited for a unique determination of $ε_{p}$ .
