Abstract

The quadrupole coupling constant of the π(h1121 s121)5 isomer in polycrystalline Hg206 at 225 K has been measured by means of the perturbed angular distribution method. The result is e2Qqh=136.5±3 MHz, from which we deduce eQ=65±13 e fm2 and an effective charge eeff(πh1121)=(2.2±0.5)e.
