Abstract
Measurements have been made of the angular correlation at seven energies between MeV. The study was undertaken to search for evidence of a state which has been predicted to be nearly degenerate with the known state at 9.85 MeV excitation in . All of the results indicate that the reaction proceeds entirely through a state in . Since there is evidence that the initial stage of the reaction is not selective, the present results argue against the existence of the predicted state.
