The reaction ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$($t$,$p$) leading to the ground and 6.59-MeV $0^{+}$ states of ${}_{}{}^{14}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ provides a quantitative measure of 0.35 ± 0.02 for the amplitude of $\mathrm{sd}$-shell excitation in ${}_{}{}^{14}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ (g.s.).

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ ($t$,$p$), $E=18\mathrm{}$ MeV, measured $\sigma \left(\theta \right)$, DWBA analysis, determined ${}_{}{}^{14}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ (g.s.) wave function components.
