Abstract

Inelastic scattering spectra have been measured with 245 MeV incident energy Be9 ions on a Pb208 target. They show large excitation of the Pb208 giant quadrupole resonance. Distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations are reported and compared with the data.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Pb208(Be9, Be9) E=245 MeV; measured giant quadrupole resonance σ(θ); DWBA analysis.
