A unified description is proposed of the following classes of nuclear collective states in terms of an interacting $\mathrm{sp}$-boson model: (i) low-lying collective states and "clustering" in the light nuclei, both odd-odd and even-even; (ii) giant multipole resonances; and (iii) pairing collective motions.
