Spin of the 12.8 MeV c.m. resonance in the C12 + O16 system

Abstract

The α particle angular distributions measured on and off the 12.8 MeV resonance in the C12 + O16 system have been used to deduce spin and parity values of 7 for the resonance. These results are in disagreement with all existing theoretical predictions.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(O16,α)Mg24, Ec.m.=12.80 and 13.01 MeV; measured σ(θ) for α particles. Deduced Jπ for the 12.8 MeV resonance.
