Abstract

The results for π±+Be9 elastic scattering at Elab=162 MeV are shown to provide evidence for quadrupole contributions to the elastic scattering of pions. The strong-coupling rotational model is used to relate the measured inelastic scattering cross sections to the elastic scattering cross sections.
