Abstract

We measured the tensor analyzing power T20 for the reaction Ne20(d,α)F18 for Ex(F18)6.48 MeV at θlab=176.3° and for incident energies of 10.5Ed12.0 MeV in steps of 0.25 MeV. Comparison of the measured T20 values with theoretical predictions leads to assignments of natural or unnatural parity to about 30 levels in F18. Combining the present results with published spectroscopic information leads to new unambiguous Jπ and isospin assignments for some levels and the confirmation of previously determined values for others.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ne20(d,α), 10.5Ed12.0 MeV; ΔEd=0.25 MeV; measured T20(E,Eα,176.3°). F18 deduced levels, natural target.
