Abstract

Fusion-evaporation reactions induced by beams of 25-55-Mev N15 and O18 on an isotopically enriched Ca48 target have been used to populate high-spin yrast levels in Fe5960 and Co5960. Measurements consisted of γ-ray excitation functions, angular distributions, γγ coincidences, and recoil-distance and Doppler-shift lifetime measurements, from which were deduced the energy levels, γ-ray branching ratios, most probable spin-parity assignments, and level lifetimes. The results of pγ correlation measurements in the Fe58(t,pγ)Fe60 reaction are also reported.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ca48(N15,xn,yp)Fe59,60 and Co5960 and Ca48(O18,xn,zα)Fe59,60. E=2555 MeV; measured σ(E,Eγ) and coin; deduced levels; measured σ(Eγ,θ); deduced Jπ for high-spin levels; measured RDM and DSA; deduced τm, |M(M1)|2 and |M(E2)|2, Fe58(t,pγ)Fe60; measured pγ(θ); deduced Jπ.
