Abstract

The spins and parities of the 3723 keV, 4294 keV and 5313 keV levels in ³⁶Cl have been determined to be 4^-, 6^- and 7⁺ respectively. These assignments were made with the aid of angular distribution and linear polarisation data obtained from the ³³S( alpha ,p gamma )³⁶Cl reaction. The resulting transition strengths are compatible with those expected from simple shell-model configurations.
