Abstract

The analysis of excitation curves and angular correlations of the γ rays from the N14(p, γ)O15 reaction confirms the existence of a doublet at 8.92 MeV in O15. Jπ=12+ and Jπ=12 assignments are determined for the spins and parities of the two members of this doublet. The 8.98 MeV level is found to have Jπ=32. This study was performed using a differentially pumped gas target of natural nitrogen. A comparison with N15 levels and with theoretical results is discussed.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS N14(p, γ), E=1.742, 1806 MeV. Measured σ(E), γγ(θ). O15 levels deduced J, π. Natural gas target.
