Abstract

A study of the inelastic scattering of C12 from Al27 at 82 MeV, a bombarding energy at which deep-inelastic collisions occur, suggests the population of giant resonances in the target. This result supports the suggestion of Broglia, Dasso, and Winther regarding the mechanism of deep-inelastic collisions.
