Abstract

Branching ratios have been obtained for the electromagnetic decays of the lowest O+ T=2 states in F20, Al28, P32, Co56, and Cu60. In all cases the (He3,p) reaction was used to populate the levels. Comparisons are presented with theoretical predictions of the shell model and with analogous Gamow-Teller β decays leading to the same final states.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS O18(He3,pγ), Mg26(He3,pγ), Si30(He3,pγ), Fe54(He3,pγ), Ni58(He3,pγ) E=1115 MeV, measured pγ coincidences, (Ep,Eγ,θp=0°,θγ) deduced γ branching ratios for T=2 states.
