Abstract

Angular distributions and excitation functions for C12(C12,α)Ne20 and C12(C12, Be8)O16 have been measured around E12C(c.m.)=18.5 MeV, where strongly correlated structure for both reactions has been reported. Both ground-state angular distributions are dominated by a single angular momentum; for C12(C12,α)Neg.s.20 the dominant angular momentum is l=10, while for C12(C12, Beg.s.8) Og.s.16 it is l=12. Hauser-Feshbach calculations reproduce the shapes of the angular distributions; the dominant angular momenta are the grazing partial waves in the outgoing channels.
