Abstract

A simple mass equation is derived and is shown to provide a good description of the masses of the recently measured TZ=52 nuclei in the sd shell. A comparison is made with the method of Garvey et al. and predictions of masses and of the stability of neutron-excess light nuclei are given for both methods.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE Derived mass equation based on shell model; compared predictions with method of Garvey et al.
