Abstract

A continuum shell-model calculation of the E2 strength in C12 is presented in which an E2 resonance at ∼ 27 MeV excitation energy is predicted. The results are consistent with experimental data on photoproton angular distributions and polarizations.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(γ, p), E=1630 MeV; calculated E2 strength, effect on angular distributions and polarizations.
