Abstract

The levels of Re183 and Re181 have been studied through the (α,2nγ) and (α,4nγ) reactions with a Ta181 target. Besides confirming and extending the levels of the 52+[402] and 92[514] bands, two new members, 212 and 252, of the 12[541] band in Re183 and existence and relative location of seven new members, 52, 92, 132, 172, 212, 252, and 292, of the 12[541] band in Re181 are established. A few new lifetimes are measured and some side feeding to the levels of the above bands is established.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ta181(α,2nγ)Re183 and Ta181(α,4nγ)Re181, Eα=2563 MeV; measured σ(γ,Eα), σ(θ), γγ coincidence, γt distributions; deduced decay schemes, J, π, T12.
