Evidence for anomalous $g_l$ factors of the nucleons over the whole mass region is presented. The analysis has yielded $g_l^{\mathrm{e}\mathrm{f}\mathrm{f}}\mathrm{}\left(p\right)=1.09\mathrm{}\pm 0.03$ and $g_l^{\mathrm{e}\mathrm{f}\mathrm{f}}\mathrm{}\left(n\right)=-0.06\mathrm{}\pm 0.04$, which are compatible with the effect of the mesonic-exchange current.
