Abstract

Thirty-six transitions from the excited levels of Gd156 as fed by electron capture in Tb156 have been studied. Level spins and parities, along with transition multipolarities, have been determined utilizing germanium solid-state detectors for the γ rays and the Davis precision solenoidal β-ray spectrometer for the conversion electrons. The energies as measured by the spectrometer are determined to well within one part in 7000. A decay scheme is presented and the energy levels are discussed.
