Abstract

We report differential cross sections at 40-50 angles (35°-110° c.m.) for N14-N14 and N14-O16 elastic scattering. The c.m. energies vary in steps of 200 keV from 5 MeV to ∼18 MeV. For N14-N14, some additional data extend to ∼20 MeV. Only at the lower energies does either the optical model or a modified diffraction model satisfactorily describe the data. At the higher energies, weak but broad peaks appear in the excitation curves. Evidence concerning finer structure is inconclusive.
