Abstract

The static quadrupole moments of the first excited Jπ=2+ states in Si28 and Ni62 were measured to be Q=0.17±0.05 b and Q=0.08±0.12 b, respectively, using the reorientation effect in Coulomb excitation with 70-MeV Si28 projectiles incident on a Ni62 target.
