Structure of <span class="aps-inline-formula"><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>16</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math></span>

An exact shell-model calculation is presented that gives a good description of the properties of $O^{16}$ and neighboring nuclei.
