Abstract

We measured the cross section for B10(n,α)Li7 by reciprocity from the inverse reaction, using the 4π "graphite sphere" neutron detector. The branching ratio to the ground and first excited states of Li7 was measured using face-to-face surface-barrier silicon detectors. The resulting reaction yield, normalized ultimately to the thermal cross section, shows significant (2%) departure from 1v in different directions at different energies for the two reaction channels: 30 keV (high) for (n,α0), 100 keV (low) for (n,α1), and 170 keV (low) for (n,α0+α1).
