The reaction ${\mathrm{O}}^{16}(t, p){\mathrm{O}}^{18}$ is analyzed, assuming contributions to the cross section from the possible core-excited states in the target to be negligible. The shell-model amplitudes and relative phases for the $J=0^{+}$ and $J=2^{+}$ states in ${\mathrm{O}}^{18}$ are calculated. Several solutions are obtained. The overlaps with some shell-model calculations are tabulated.
