Abstract

Time-of-flight neutron spectra from the bombardment of a chromium nitride target by 3.5- and 6.2-MeV He3 particles indicate five neutron groups corresponding to the ground state of F16 and to excited states at 0.20±0.05, 0.436±0.030, 0.736±0.040, and 3.78±0.06 MeV, with widths of 50±30, <40, 40±30, <15 and <40 keV, respectively. The ground state Q value is -0.963±0.040 MeV, corresponding to a F16 atomic mass excess of 10.686±0.040 MeV. The results are discussed in terms of the known information on the T=1 states in the A=16 isobaric triad.
