Search for fission from a long-lived isomer in 250No and evidence of a second isomer

RADIOACTIVITY 250,250mNo(α), (SF)[from 204Pb(48Ca, 2n), E=218.9 MeV, followed by separation of fragments using TASCA system at GSI facility]; measured evaporation residues (ERs), (ER)α- and (ER)(fission events)-correlations, T1/2 of g.s. and two isomers using double-sided silicon strips detectors, and a multiwire proportional counter (MWPC). 250,250mNo; deduced T1/2, upper limit of fission (SF) branching of 23-μs isomer, new shorter-lived high-K isomer. Discussed nonobservation of fission branching of the long-lived isomer, and fission-hindrance factor due to K-quantum number with theoretical predictions from various semiempirical approaches.
