Prompt fission neutron yields in thermal fission of 235U and spontaneous fission of 252Cf

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 235U(n, F), E=thermal; measured fission fragments, E(n), I(n), (fission fragment)n-coin using a Twin Frisch-Grid Ionization Chamber (TFGIC) and two liquid scintillation detectors at the 7 MV Van de Graaff facility in JRC-Geel; deduced mass yields and two-dimensional mass versus total kinetic energy (TKE) distributions, average prompt fission neutron spectra (PFNS), contribution from forward and backward neutron-fragment coincidences, preneutron emission mass yields, TKE distributions versus preneutron emission mass, prompt-fission neutron yield as a function of preneutron mass and TKE, neutron spectrum in the center-of-mass system as a function of fragment mass. Detailed Fluka simulations, and comparison with data from SCINTIA neutron array, other experimental results, and Wahl evaluation. Need for a new evaluation of the prompt-fission neutron multiplicity.

Comparison with previous experimental results.

First isomeric yield ratio measurements by direct ion counting and implications for the angular momentum of the primary fission fragments

Comparison with previous experimental values.
