Search for induced emission from the ¹⁷⁸Hf^m2 isomer by low-energy x rays

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ^178mHf(γ, γ'), E=20.825 keV x rays, [31-year, 16+ isomer of ¹⁷⁸Hf in ¹⁷⁶Yb(α, 2n), followed by chemical separation]; measured Eγ, Iγ at the SSRF facility in China; deduced no enhancement in γ-ray intensity of 426-, 495-, and 574-keV γ rays from the decay of 31-y isomer of ¹⁷⁸Hf. Search for induced emission from 31-y isomer of ¹⁷⁸Hf by x rays proved negative.

RADIOACTIVITY ¹⁷²Lu, ¹⁷⁵Hf(EC), ^175mHf(IT); measured Eγ, Iγ.
