Radiative fusion from very symmetric reactions: the giant dipole resonance in the ¹⁷⁹Au nucleus

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁸⁹Y(⁹⁰Zr, γ), (⁹⁰Zr, xnyp), E=352 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (recoil)γ-coin for 0-, 1-, and 2-nucleon evaporation; deduced statistical emission. ¹⁷⁹Au deduced excited GDR width. BaF₂ detectors, recoil separator.
