Nuclear fusion reactions in deuterated metals

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 2H(d, p)3H, E=0-1.09 MeV; calculated S-factor of deuterated metal target due to electron lattice screening of Coulomb force. 2H(e+, e+), (e-, e-), (γ, γ), E=2 MeV; 2H(p, p), (d, d), (α, α), E=3 MeV; 2H(n, n), E=2.45 MeV; calculated total σ, mean deuteron recoil energy. Discussed role of electron screening on the efficiency of nuclear fusion events between charged particles.

Novel nuclear reactions observed in bremsstrahlung-irradiated deuterated metals

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ti, Er(γ, n), E=2.5-2.9 MeV; measured photodissociation neutron spectra, E(n), I(n) using deuterated ErD2 and TiD2 targets, and lead-shielded liquid and plastic scintillator detectors. 2H(d, n), (d, p), E=0.064, 0.98-1.27 MeV; calculated neutron energies from kinetic heating of 2H (Deuterium) fuel. 46Ti(d, n), E=1.2 MeV; 47Ti(d, n), E=0.40 MeV; 166,167,168,170Er(d, n), E=1.27 MeV; 170Er(d, n), E=0.87 MeV; 166,168(3He, n), E=0.4 MeV; 170Er(3He, n), E=0.82 MeV; measured neutron spectra, E(n), I(n); observed d-D nuclear fusion events in an electron-screened, deuterated metal lattice using a Dynamitron electron accelerator; deduced enhanced fusion cross sections. Comparison with theoretical predictions and experimental inertial confinement d-D fusion results.
