Repulsion and absorption of the Σ-nucleus potential for Σ--5He in the 6Li(π-, K+) reaction

Missing-mass spectroscopy with the 6Li(π-, K+)X reaction to search for 6ΛH

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 6Li(π-, K+), at momentum of 1.2 GeV/c; C(π+, K+Σ+), (π-, K+Σ-), at momentum of 1.39 GeV/c; measured momenta of the outgoing K+ particles using the superconducting kaon spectrometer (SKS) complex, in a QQDQQ configuration, at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility; deduced correlation plots between dE/dx in the TOF wall segments and momenta of the scattered particles, missing-mass spectra, double-differential cross sections for the π-p -> K+Σ- and π+p -> K+Σ+ reactions, angular distribution of the integrated cross sections, excitation energy spectrum of the 12C hypernucleus. 6H; search for 6ΛH hypernucleus in the missing-mass spectrum proved negative, with an upper limit of production σ of 0.56 nb/sr (90% C.L.).
